ABOUT HENRY

Henry Thong

Documentary filmmaker Henry Thong has produced dozens of short films that have screened and been recognized in North America, Australia, Europe and Africa.

He found his calling in high school when his short films were recognized at the International Youth Silent Film Festival, ATOM Awards, BUFTA Awards, and Melbourne International Film Festival. Henry quickly honed in on his passion for documentary filmmaking and produced Content Censored, which opened the Oscar-qualifying St Kilda Film Festival in 2016.

Today, he focuses his lens on telling stories about artists and singers. In doing so, Henry has worked with Ronny Chieng, Laufey, Lauren Lovette, Poh Ling Yeow, and more.

As a passionate documentarian, Henry believes the world is an interesting enough place without having to create new ones.

Henry’s original documentary web-series Makers Who Inspire has amassed nearly 2 million views, and was screened and awarded at Fashion Film Festival Milano, the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, and Dance on Camera at Lincoln Center.

His recent documentary about Tiffany Day’s Gratitude Tour had its premiere in New York City. It went on to screen in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and at the 27th annual Vancouver Asian Film Festival, where it was awarded the People’s Choice Award.

Through working with like-minded brands, Henry has also produced content for clients in Australia, Singapore and the United States such as Kit, Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, ABC Australia, Safe Horizon, travel and language creator Jo Franco, and celebrity chef Adam Liaw.

Henry lives in Brooklyn, New York, and regularly travels for film and photography projects.
